This year’s CRCAG Annual General Meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m.
As usual, we will have speakers scheduled to bring you up to speed on key flood-related initiatives for both the Elbow and Bow Rivers.
Although much work still lies ahead for the Bow, this event is an opportunity to socialize and collectively celebrate the milestones we have achieved over the past decade.

Mayor Gondek is confirmed for the event, along with speakers from Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, Alberta Transportation, and the City of Calgary. We’ll keep you posted as further dignitaries are confirmed.
With shovels in the ground for SR1, the bulk of this year’s event will naturally shift to protections on the Bow River. Some of the requested content we expect to hear about will include:
Springbank off-Stream Reservoir (SR1)
- Key SR1 developments recently
- Will SR1 finish construction on time?
- How will handoff to AEP work once SR1 is constructed?
Bow River Reservoir Options (BRRO) project
- Overview of the options being assessed & criteria (drought and flood)
- Timeline for completion of the Phase 2 feasibility study
- Public engagement process throughout Phase 2 – what engagement opportunities are upcoming?
- Next steps after the feasibility study & overview of the regulatory process to come
Flood mapping
- Refresher on the flood maps project and update
- Status of inundation maps? Status of the hazard maps? Respective use for these maps.
- What’s next for this project and if/when there are public engagement opportunities upcoming.

- General update on local mitigation projects
