The time has come to compile our evidence for the Natural Resources Conservation Board (NRCB) public regulatory hearing on the Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir (SR1) project — and we need your help.
As part of the provincial regulatory review, the NRCB recently issued notice of a pre-hearing conference to be held on December 2, 2020 in anticipation of a public hearing on the project as early as February 2021.
At the pre-hearing conference the NRCB will set out procedural guidelines for the hearing, such as the appropriate scope and jurisdiction of the review, the location and timing of a hearing and deadlines for filing hearing submissions.

CRCAG seeks to participate in the NRCB hearing as an intervenor jointly with Flood Free Calgary.
We have submitted our statement of intent to participate and a written summary of our forthcoming submission.
Following the pre-hearing conference, the NRCB will consider all applications for intervenor status and eligibility for any intervenor funding requests received.
Over the coming months we will be compiling our evidence package and drafting our formal submission for the hearing, and we are soliciting letters from residents, businesses, and community organizations to include in our evidence package.
We seek to represent Calgarians as the voice of the affected, but we need your letters to help us do that!
The NRCB will no doubt be hearing from landowners potentially affected by SR1 in Springbank. Your letters will show the NRCB the other side of the issue: the vast number and significant impacts on residents/businesses affected by potential flooding in Calgary.
The NRCB will weigh the benefits and burdens of SR1 in deciding whether to approve the project. This is a critical juncture in the review process and WE NEED YOU TO SPEAK UP!
