With Calgary’s flood season fast approaching (May 15 to July 15), there are a number of flood-related events happening throughout the city in the coming weeks.

To keep you in-the-loop during this busy time, we’ve listed upcoming events below.

Councillor Farkas’ Flood Readiness Town Hall for Elbow River Communities

Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
Elbow Park Community Centre
800 34 Avenue S.W.

Councillor Jeremy Farkas has invited all public to attend the upcoming Ward 11 Town Hall: Special Edition – Flood Mitigation and Preparedness, which will include presentations from Calgary Water Services and CEMA. Invitations to this event have also been extended to Minister Phillips and Minister McKenna.

In the email invite to his constituents, Councillor Farkas emphasized the need for timely flood mitigation and preparedness in our city:

“My position is that this is not just a Ward 11 issue, but a city-wide issue. Calgary is a key economic engine for Alberta, and although the risk has been reduced, we remain vulnerable to flooding on both rivers.”

CEAA’s information sessions on the Springbank Project environmental assessment

A reminder that the CEAA’s open houses on the environmental assessment are planned for May 22 in Springbank and May 24 in Calgary. More information on these events is available here

We look forward to seeing a few of you out at these events. We will certainly keep you posted about any additional events, as we learn of them.

Regards,
