Alberta’s new provincial cabinet was sworn in on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. Full announcement here.
We now know who will be leading the ministries in charge of critical flood mitigation projects for the Bow and Elbow Rivers.
- Transportation, the proponent of the Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir Project (SR1), will be lead by MLA Calgary-Hays, Ric McIver. Previously, McIver has served Albertans as Minister of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour.
- Environment and Parks, the proponent of the Bow River Water Management Options project to identify the optimal upstream project(s) on the Bow River, will be lead by MLA Rimbey–Rocky Mountain House–Sundre, Jason Nixon.
- Municipal Affairs, working together with Environment and Parks to update the provincial flood maps and create associated floodplain development rules, will be led by MLA Edmonton-South West, Kaycee Madu.
- Justice will be lead by MLA Calgary-Elbow, Doug Schweitzer.
