On May 27 and 28, The City of Calgary hosted two public information sessions on flood readiness. The City and special guests from the Province, TransAlta Utilities and Calgary River Communities Action Group (CRCAG) updated Calgarians on current river monitoring and flood readiness information.
The City of Calgary summary of the information sessions can be found here.
The first session focused on updating communities adjacent to the Bow River. The event took place at Foothills Academy (N.W.), while the second session was for those on the Elbow River and took place at Temple B’nai Tikvah (S.W.).
At the May 27th (Bow River) session over 75 people attended and at the May 28th (Elbow River) session over 125 people attended.
The verbal questions asked at the May 27th session can be viewed here.

While it was nice to see some elected officials show up to listen and be further informed on what is happening with respect to flood mitigation, CRCAG was very disappointed to not see councillors from the communities that were hardest hit by the 2013 flooding.
