June 13, 2022 by CRC Action Group in News

The City of Calgary held a press conference this afternoon at 4:00 pm to announce that a state of emergency for the City has been declared on account of the flood risk.

Police Chief Henry indicated that no widespread overbank flooding is expected, but some communities will be affected.  Bowness and Sunnyside communities were identified as areas where some flooding and basement seepage is expected.

A berm will be constructed on Memorial Drive between 3rd Street and Centre Street.  The road will be closed starting at midnight and remain closed while the berm is in place.

People are warned to stay off the Bow and Elbow rivers and away from the river banks.
