The report for the Phase 1 conceptual assessment for the Bow River Reservoir Options (BRRO) project has now been released.
The Phase 1 report can be found here. The link will take you to a page containing further links to the main body and all the appendices of the report. The report includes:
- technical information about the reservoir design
- descriptions of the criteria used to evaluate options
- environmental considerations for each option
- a summary of engagement activity and collected feedback
Note the project name change: The Bow River Reservoir Options (BRRO) project builds on the previous Bow Basin Water Management Project (BBWMO), which was originally tasked with assessing the potential for flood and drought mitigation within the Bow River basin.
Vendor selection for feasibility study underway
AEP has also posted a Request for Proposals (RFP)* to secure a vendor for the Phase 2 feasibility study. The RFP will be open for six weeks (closes October 5) after which vendor selection will begin.
*The RFP has been posted to Alberta Purchasing Connection which is the government’s official means of posting RFPs. Access is restricted to vendors registered in the system so we are unable to link this document for you.
After vendor selection, the Phase 2 feasibility study could begin as early as November 2020.
Budget for the feasibility study was allocated over three years (although work will be done in less), likely putting completion of Phase 2 in March 2023.
