Alberta WaterSMART released a paper yesterday, The 2013 Great Alberta Flood: Actions to Mitigate, Manage and Control Future Floods. The document provides some excellent background on the history of flooding in Alberta and proposes some sound, practical solutions. We will continue to push all levels of government to make upstream mitigation the centrepiece of flood policy going forward.
We have confirmed our meeting with senior government officials responsible for the Disaster Recovery Program for Thursday afternoon and will provide a summary as soon as possible. We also continue to try to arrange a meeting with our elected officials.
