Earlier this year at our AGM, we welcomed Flood Free Calgary to the crusade for upstream mitigation in Calgary. They’ve been rallying the business community and emphasizing the message of economic risk; highlighting that if we lose our downtown core we will ALL lose.
They recently published a few blog posts with updates on upstream mitigation on the Bow River, West Eau Claire Park, and the Centre Street Bridge flood barrier that we wanted to share with you.
Research on Bow River upstream options expected to begin in November
- Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) is currently looking to secure an independent firm to conduct the research on the three upstream options for the Bow River, and research may begin this month (November 2018).
West Eau Claire Park completed and Centre Street Bridge flood barrier nearly complete
- Each entry provides a thorough project overview including details about the flood mitigation measures (design, level of protection), as well as a look forward to additional flood mitigation projects planned for the Eau Claire area. Very informative.
