Greetings CRCAG Members,
It has been awhile since our last posting, however you can be assured that the CRCAG team has remained actively engaged behind the scenes pressing forward with our mandate. This is the first of several email updates you can expect over the coming weeks.
In the spring, we reported to you about the City of Calgary forming the Community Advisory Group for Flood Mitigation and Resiliency; CRCAG is represented on the group by our Board members, Daryl Rudichuk and Rob Nieuwesteeg. For more information about the Community Advisory Group, visit the City’s of Calgary’s web page at http://www.calgary.ca/UEP/Water/Pages/Flood-Info/Stay-informed/Flood-Mitigation-Measures-Assessment.aspx. The Community Advisory Group was the first stage of engagement by the City with the public concerning flood mitigation and resilience. As a next stage of public engagement, the City is holding several upcoming public events, where citizens can share their opinions on proposed flood mitigation projects. This information will be used, along with other information being gathered by the City, to inform recommendations being brought to City Council in early 2017. The key dates are set out below, and more information is available at this City of Calgary webpage: http://engage.calgary.ca/flood
These are important opportunities to gather information and to have your voice heard. If flood mitigation and resilience for your community is a priority for you – please consider participating in a session.
