Earlier this year, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) invited public comments on the potential environmental effects of the Springbank Project and on the proposed measures to prevent or mitigate those effects as described in the EIA.
The CEAA received over 700 public comments, which are all now publicly available online here.
We’ve read through some of the comments and although most of what we read were copy-paste letters, there were also many impassioned original submissions.
But what really stands out to us is the diverse list of stakeholders who sent in their comments. This diverse list speaks loudly to how much more complicated the McLean Creek Project (MC1) would be.
Notwithstanding the fact that the Springbank Project is the superior project, to start all over again with many more legitimate stakeholders, given its public land, is a delay we cannot afford to take.

Again, thank you to everyone who submitted comments, both by copy-pasting our suggested wording and by submitting your original comments. Every letter sent in counts and helps to move the needle in favor of this crucial project.
There will be one additional public comment period to come.
Once the CEAA is finished reviewing the EIA and is satisfied with all information provided, the agency will prepare a draft environmental assessment report including conclusions regarding the potential environmental effects of the project, mitigation measures, and follow-up programs. Once the draft report has been completed, the agency will solicit public comments on the report and potential conditions.
We will continue to keep you updated throughout the regulatory process and we’ll alert you to any calls to action, as needed.
