Meeting with Alberta Environment Sustainable Resource Development and City of Calgary Flood Resiliency Group
On April 10, 2015 Directors of CRCAG met with ESRD and the City of Calgary Flood Resiliency Group to discuss public information sessions for the Bow and Elbow River communities.
CRCAG expressed to ESRD and the City of Calgary that specific information sessions tailored to the concerns of Bow and Elbow River communities would be most beneficial. We also expressed that ESRD, the City of Calgary, and other external stakeholders (i.e. Stantec, TransAlta) provide the audience with presentations, followed by a brief question and answer period. CRCAG also requested that opportunity for participants to engage in additional one-on-one conversations follow the presentations and question and answer period, with representatives being available at tables/booths.
The public information sessions will be targeted for the end of May, with one session addressing Bow River flood mitigation and the second session addressing Elbow River flood mitigation. More details regarding the date, time, location and general agenda of the sessions will be forwarded to the membership once they become available.
CRCAG understands the urgency and anticipation for further updates regarding upstream mitigation for Bow and Elbow river communities. As such, we are requesting that members in Bow and Elbow river communities forward any questions and concerns to us by May 8, 2015. Please send your comments to: info@crcactiongroup.com. We will compile these and ask ESRD and the City to address them as best they can at the information sessions.
CRCAG continues to remain committed in ensuring that the Province and City implement mitigation plans that will encompass both river systems for the protection of our entire City.
