A series of stakeholder engagement events for the Bow River Reservoir Options project (BRRO) are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
Public engagement activities are now underway for the second phase of the Bow River Reservoir Options (BRRO) initiative, a feasibility study. The study team wants to hear from anyone that lives, works or plays in the study area. We are interested in your input on what social, environmental, economic and other factors should be considered when evaluating the three reservoir options. – Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP)
There are two types of engagement events:
|Virtual Information Centre |Information only, self guided _______________________ | | | | Live Virtual Sessions Q&A sessions _______________________ |
The virtual information centre will be open June 16 – 30, 2021. The information centre will have general information on the BRRO initiative and details on the feasibility study. This virtual event will simulate being in a conference room, and you’ll be able to click on different ‘boards’, or links, to pop open different elements (videos, reports, etc). There will also be an opportunity to provide input to help guide the evaluation of the reservoir options. The link to the virtual information centre will be available on the AEP engagement webpage. | Come ready with your questions. These live sessions are not presentations and it is recommended you attend the virtual information centre as a prerequisite. At these events you can connect with the AEP team to learn more, share feedback and ask questions about the BRRO initiative. Pre-registration is required for 30 minute time slots on the following dates: Tuesday, June 22, 7:00 – 9:00 pm Thursday, June 24, 2:00 – 4:00 pm Saturday, June 26, 10:00 am – noon |
How the live virtual Q&A sessions will operate:
When you register for a Q&A session, you will be asked to:
- select a 30-minute time slot
- specify what type of stakeholder you are (property owner, recreational user, local community member, Indigenous, prefer not to answer, or other)
- indicate which (or all) of the three upstream options you are most interested in
On the day of the event in the virtual event lobby, a facilitator will ask what questions you’d like to ask. Depending on your lobby questions and your registration responses, you will be placed in a breakout room of max 10 participants with a similar focus. Each breakout room will have a facilitator, who will ensure each participant is provided an opportunity to ask questions. The breakout rooms will be fairly general: engineering, environmental, engagement, high level focus on AEP.
To respect all registered participants, AEP will need to be timely in the transition between time slots. If there are individuals who have additional questions at the end of their 30 minute time slot, the facilitator can propose various options at that time, depending on the circumstances.

Additionally, an interactive map is available where the public can leave comments on how they use the project area in relation to the reservoir options being considered.
CRCAG board members plan to attend these engagement events and we encourage our members to attend as well.
