An open house in Bragg Creek gave residents an opportunity learn more about local flood mitigation projects planned to protect the area. The County intends to start construction as soon as this summer, subject to regulatory approval and any required land acquisitions.
Information about the project is available on the Rocky View County website (click here). More information about the public meeting as reported in the Rocky View Weekly can be read here.
The province previously announced a commitment to fund local flood mitigation for Redwood Meadows (located on the Tsuu T’ina Nation reserve), and has indicated that “requirements for Redwood Meadows will be determined after plans for Bragg Creek are finalized, due to the downstream location of Redwood Meadows” (see here).
The communities of Bragg Creek and Redwood Meadows are located on the Elbow River upstream of the Springbank Off-stream Reservoir project that the province has committed to build to protect Calgary from future flood events.
