Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) submitted and available publicly

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has been submitted to regulators, review and hearings to follow

Today several members of your CRCAG Team, along with representatives from other key stakeholders, including the City of Calgary, Calgary Zoo, and Calgary Economic Development, were provided with a summary overview of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir Project.

The EIA has now been submitted to the environmental regulators, the provincial Natural Resources Conservation Board (NRCB), and the federal Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA).

Copy the links below to read the full EIA, which is more than 3,300 pages long!

  • Access all EIA documents:
    ftp://ftp.gov.ab.ca/env/fs/EIA/2017-10-AlbertaTransportationSpringbankOffStreamReservoirProject/
  • Read the Executive Summary:
    ftp://ftp.gov.ab.ca/env/fs/EIA/2017-10-AlbertaTransportationSpringbankOffStreamReservoirProject/Executive%20Summary.pdf

The NRCB and CEAA will review the EIA and request what further information they feel is required to be included, from the project’s proponent, Alberta Transportation. Once that process is finished and the EIA is complete, the review and hearing process will begin.

This is a major step in seeing the Springbank Project move forward and we again thank the Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments for being so clearly committed to seeing its completion as soon as possible. Our safety and security, physical and financial, depend on it.

Regards,

Your CRCAG Board
