Clarification on revised operations at the Ghost Reservoir

June 17, 2015 by CRC Action Group in Calgary River Communities, News

Recreational users and Ghost Lake Summer Village residents have brought a number of topics to the attention of Environment and Parks, such as difficulties accessing well water, recreational impacts, and the need for flood mitigation in a dry year. Although Environment and Parks have instructed TransAlta to raise the Ghost Reservoir, it has been conveyed that in the event of a major precipitation event, TransAlta will have sufficient notice to draw down the reservoir level. Environment and Parks continue to closely monitor weather and river conditions. It is based on their weather and river assessment that they are instructing TransAlta to raise the level of the Ghost Reservoir.
